Before I developed hugg I found it difficult to find earrings suitable for non-pierced ears, that weren’t either plastic, and poor quality, or vintage, and impractical for everyday use. I looked longingly at the array of modern options from pierced earring brands and even tried to convert some myself to clip-ons…unsuccessfully. And here we are today: with a new, carefully considered range of wearable clip-on earring styles, to pair with all your wonderful outfits!
In addition to a focus on style, our earrings have been specially made for sensitive ears. We’ve incorporated several elements into our designs and the chosen materials, to help them to be worn longer and more comfortably.
COMFORT
We control the weight of our earrings as much as possible to reduce the pull on your lobes. Every corner that comes into contact with your skin is buffered and smoothed down by hand. We use extra-large jelly comfort-pads at the back of the clips. And we provide an extra set of adhesive pads which you can use on the front clip too if you like.
Everyone has different levels of sensitivity influencing how long they’ll be able to wear clip-ons for, comfortably. And pretty much all clips are likely to become a bit uncomfortable at some point. But our aim is to make that for quite a bit longer and with quite a bit more comfort when you choose a pair of huggs.
SENSITIVITY
All hugg earrings are all made with the highest quality 18 Carat Gold and 316L (surgical grade) Stainless Steel. A higher Carat Gold, such as 18ct and Surgical Stainless Steel are better for sensitive ears and less likely to cause an allergic reaction, compared to a lower quality gold, and materials such as Sterling Silver, which contain more allergenic alloys.
DURABILITY
Our earrings are designed in London and proudly made in Hong Kong by a skilled team who specialise in making PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) gold jewellery. PVD is an environmentally-friendly technology that uses an advanced vacuum process to create a highly durable, water and tarnish-resistant, high polish coating. The quality of the process makes PVD jewellery longer-lasting, particularly compared to the more usual dip-plating. The non-porous surface of 316L Stainless Steel makes it easy to clean and maintain. It is also 100% waterproof, recyclable, durable and tarnish resistant, making it safer for every day, repeated wear.
